FFT Companion is a reference and planning app for Final Fantasy Tactics players, covering the original PlayStation release, War of the Lions and The Ivalice Chronicles.

Under one search bar sits a structured database of equipment, jobs, abilities and monsters, with tools built on top of it: a unit simulator, a team builder, a playthrough tracker and a 3D viewer for the battle maps. Players publish their own build guides for others to find.

Battle maps in 3D

Every battle map is rebuilt in 3D from the game's own map data, with unit positions, treasure and grid coordinates laid over the terrain, so you can rotate a map and read the ground before a fight. The viewer is built with three.js, and the map list shows a top-down thumbnail of each map.

Data with depth

Equipment, jobs, abilities and monsters each have a searchable list and a detail page: stats, effects, damage formulas and radar charts for job growth. The same pages are laid out for the phone and open up on the desktop.

One search for everything

A single search bar on the home screen looks across the whole database at once. Results come back grouped into monsters, jobs, equipment and abilities, so a half-remembered name is enough to find what you need.

Tools for planning

On top of the data sit tools for planning a playthrough. The unit simulator works out stats, damage and success chances for any mix of job, equipment and abilities. The team builder checks zodiac compatibility, ability types and elemental balance across a party. The playthrough tracker lists every missable recruit, stealable item and rare treasure in story order, without spoiling what's ahead.

Community builds

Signed-in players write build guides in a rich-text editor that links jobs and abilities inline. Likes and views bring the best ones to the top.

Three releases, one app

Final Fantasy Tactics has been released three times, and stats, availability and even item restrictions differ between them. Every record is kept per release, and a switch in the menu sets the whole app to the version you're playing.
